Best Coffee Shops in Plano, Texas

Best Coffee Shops in Plano, Texas
For now, we restrict ourselves to Plano, and take a look at several of the options.
Lemma Coffee
Address
1023 E 15th St, Plano, TX 75074
Parking
Park in front or across the street. If parking is scarce (surprisingly uncommon), there is a free parking garage for downtown Plano near 1425 Vontress Dr, Plano, TX 75074.
Recommended Drinks
1 and 1 Cortado Espresso Lemma Latte
Good For
Working, Reading, Studying
Not So Good For
Young Kids (get the coffee to-go instead, and head down to Haggard Park!), Dates
Fun Fact
'Lemma' means an intermediate result in mathematics, used on the way to proving a theorem.
Mandatory Pontification
In the summer of 2021, I first encountered Lemma's espresso, which at the time earned first place on my coffee tastings in DFW. Since then, Lemma has reliably produced some of the best espresso I've encountered in the metroplex, certainly in Plano.
Lemma now has multiple coffee shops around Plano and Frisco. In Plano, their location is at the heart of downtown, although it is surprisingly accessible. Typically I have been able to park out front or across the street; barring especially heavy traffic, there is a nearby garage if you keep heading down 15th St and take a right at K Ave.
A positive note: I have consistently been able to find seating at this location. Working abounds here, for better or worse, making this a great spot if you want to read or bring a laptop.
If you are bringing young kids, don't anticipate to find much space inside. Instead, get the coffee to go (they still have options kids will enjoy and are friendly to kids!) and head to Haggard Park or, if it's open, the Interurban Railway Museum.
1418 Coffee
Address
1418 K Ave, Plano, TX 75074
Parking
Free parking garage for downtown Plano near 1425 Vontress Dr, Plano, TX 75074
Recommended Drinks
Latte Cappucino
Good For
Dates, Conversations
Not So Good For
Working, Young Kids (for both, seating can be tight)
Fun Fact
1418 is named after their street address. They have been in DFW since 2013.
Mandatory Pontification
1418 has been a long-standing member of the downtown Plano community. They have a cozy interior vibe, great for gatherings with a few adults or a date. Seating can scarce at the Plano location, and you'll have to park in the adjacent garage.
Local Good Coffee
Address
201 Legacy Dr, Plano, TX 75023
Parking
Extensive parking out front or adjacent to the building.
Recommended Drinks
Cortado - they serve Lemma beans! Espresso
Good For
Young Kids (play area, outdoor patio, playscape), Working (designated quiet area), Medium-Sized Groups (long tables available), Open Late
Not So Good For
Fewer craft options than, say, Lemma itself Less of a 'tourist' option if you are visiting Plano
Fun Fact
Local Good is part of the Local Good Collective, which includes a food pantry. They often host events for local nonprofits.
Mandatory Pontification
It's always nice to go to Local Good, look out the big windows, and take in the views of nature, especially in the wintertime when going outside is tough. I was thrilled to find that they also use Lemma beans, so their cortados are top-notch. Since I discovered Local Good in the fall of 2025, it's been my go-to for work, meet-ups, and brining the kids.
A recent addition, Local Good opened only in 2024. They have it all: coffee, outdoor areas to roam, beautiful trees, a designated quiet area for working, kids areas, a kids playground outside, warm and substantial food (empandas), more than enough seating, ample parking, and pretty much everything one could want from a coffee shop.
It's hard to overstate how solid they are. The one thing they are not is a craft coffee shop with truly unique drinks and beans. With that said, their model is unique to the area, and it's unfair to compare them to an independent local coffee roaster.
Palmieri Cafe
Address
2024 W 15th St Ste G, Plano, TX 75075
Parking
Ample parking out front.
Recommended Drinks
Affogato Moccacino
Good For
Gelato, Italian interior, Open Late, Young Kids (because of gelato!)
Not So Good For
Nearby Activities
Fun Fact
The authentic Italian treats are made from scratch.
Mandatory Pontification
Palmieri has been in Dallas for some time, but the Plano location has apparantly only opened fairly recently. For those looking for an Italian-style cafe, with Gelato and other treats, this is the cafe for you!
The interior at the Plano location is well-designed and has plenty of seating. It's also fairly navigable for strollers, while still being accomodating for larger crowds.
Pax & Beneficia Coffee
Address
1300 W Plano Pkwy Suite 180, Plano, TX 75075
Parking
Ample parking in lots around building.
Recommended Drinks
Trinity Latte Steamer with Pax syrup (if you're looking for decaf or kids option)
Good For
Coffee To-Go, Working, Dates
Not So Good For
Group Events
Fun Fact
Pax & Beneficia makes their own syrups, which you can purchase.
Mandatory Pontification
I believe the first time I went to Pax & Beneficia was before an appointment in Richardson. Being adjacent to Sam Rayburn, their location is a prime one for a quick coffee stop on a longer trip. They and Eiland flank Sam Rayburn in this regard, so pick either one if you are looking for one along your route. I would be curious to know if their location was chosen due to UTD's proximity, though I haven't seen many obvious students when I go.
Pax & Beneficia has a number of locations throughout DFW. They roast their own beans and make their own syrup.
The Plano location has a small-to-medium amount of seating. They offer some light food options in addition to coffee.
La La Land
Address
5717 Legacy Dr suite 155n, Plano, TX 75024 2301 Preston Rd Ste B, Plano, TX 75093
Parking
Preston has ample parking around the building, it's in a complex with Whole Foods and Barnes and Noble. Legacy is in, well, Legacy, so parking is more difficult.
Recommended Drinks
La La Latte Strawberry Matcha
Good For
Design, Atmosphere, Sweet Drinks, Dates, Kids of All Ages
Not So Good For
Inexpensive Coffee, Plain Espresso (though their beans are quite good!), Quiet Environment
Fun Fact
They will not advertise this, but part of their mission is to work with young adults who are aging out of the foster care system.
Mandatory Pontification
When you walk into a La La Land, the first thing that will strike you is their design. Whether or not you like their style, it's an experience comparable to that of walking into an Apple store. Everything, down to the walls and coffee cups, is part of their cohesive brand. I genuinely hope their design team has a large share in ownership, as they deserve it.
What's less obvious -- and I didn't learn this for some time -- is that they are stacked in wealthy areas. Why? Unknown. Beverly Hills (LA), University Park (Lovers Ln in Dallas), S Congress (Austin).
One of their signature lattes, and a recent new location, will tell you all you need to know about their target audience: Lalaland x Lululemon.
Mudleaf Coffee
Address
3100 Independence Pkwy #300, Plano, TX 75075
Parking
Ample parking out front and to the side.
Recommended Drinks
Latte
Good For
Central Plano 'coffee desert': they are among the only coffee shops in that radius, Open Late
Not So Good For
Young Kids, Nearby Activities
Fun Fact
A 'Mudroom' is available for larger groups to book.
Mandatory Pontification
In 2021, when I was working at a summer internship in Richardson, Mudleaf was one of the few options around, since it was post-COVID but before the recent 'boon' of local coffee shops in that area. My wife has noted that they have been in that area for some time, and she was familiar with them from her high school years.
Mudleaf is another longstanding Plano establishment. They have unique seating, unique artwork, and offer solid drinks. Seating can be difficult to find, as they do tend to get crowded.
